2018 has officially come to an end; however, with all ends there is always a new beginning. In this case that new beginning is the fresh start of 2019! Every New Year, people across the nation celebrate the old tradition of making New Year’s resolutions through which they set a personal goal for themselves to achieve throughout the year.

Recently, the Warrior Weekly explored some of the hopes and goals that members of the AHS community have set for themselves.

s1MS. KELLEY, CAFETERIA WORKER

What is your New Year’s resolution for 2019?

To take better care of my house, and better care of myself.

Why is this your resolution?

Because I’m getting old, and because I’m getting smarter. I dont walk, I don’t exercise, I work all the time so I’ve only just started taking care of myself healthwise; and I have to give it to you [students] because, I mean, you guys eat so much more healthier, although…I do like McDonalds every once in awhile.

How do you think that you are going to achieve your 2019 resolution?

Walk more. Yeah, probably do more walking, eat healthier…. I know that sounds really cliche but that’s what I need to do. I grew up Italian; we live on bread, butter garlic and olive oil…lots of carbs.

s2LUKE KAUFMAN, JUNIOR

What is your New Year’s resolution for 2019?

I guess to pick those grades up, man. They’re not doing so well.

Why is this your resolution?

This year is pretty important for college apps. Also it has to do with feeling a sense of responsibility and accomplishment. I just think it’s pretty important.

Do you think that you are going to achieve your 2019 resolution?

Oh god, I hope so!

s7AUTUMN KING, JUNIOR

To get good grades and to get swole.

Why is this your resolution?

So that I make the tennis team.

What was your resolution last year?

To get swole.

Did you achieve that goal?

No.

Do you think that you are going to achieve your 2019 resolution?

Yes.

s3MR. MITCHELL, SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

What is your New Year’s resolution for 2019?

I’m going to start going to the gym. I haven’t been going to the gym lately. I’m going to try working out more. I’m going to try in January to rejoin my gym.

Why is this your resolution?

I’m not in shape like I used to be. I want to get in better health.

What was your resolution last year?

I think I wanted to lose a little weight.

Did you achieve that goal?

I did. I did some walking, and I think I lost a couple pounds.

Do you think that you are going to achieve your 2019 resolution?

Yes, I’m going to try to work out more regularly throughout the year.

s4AISHWARYA SOOD, SENIOR

What is your New Year’s resolution for 2019?

My New Year’s resolution is to be more organized.

Why is this your resolution?

Because I feel like if I’m more organized then I will be happier because I don’t like clutter.

What do you think you’re going to do to achieve your goal?

I think I’m going to start using an agenda. I’m also going to try to keep my room as neat and organized as possible.

s5MS. McNALLY, PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER

What is your New Year’s resolution for 2019?

I haven’t set my New Year’s resolution yet, but I definitely am going to look forward to graduating from grad school and just continue to make myself a better teacher and a better person.

What was your resolution last year?

Last year I had a few different things I wanted to work on. I wanted to work on embracing changes and new challenges, which I think I’ve done by changing jobs here.

Do you think that you are going to achieve your 2019 resolution?

I think I will.

s6MR. BLEDSOE, SCIENCE TEACHER

What is your New Year’s resolution for 2019?

Well, I’m going to follow the Japanese tradition of Osouji, which means the big clean where before January 1st, everything is spick-and-span and spotless in the house. Every piece of furniture is cleaned, walls are clean, everything’s in order, extra waste is thrown out, and you start the brand new year with a fresh start.

Why is this your resolution?

Because my place could be cleaned. It needs years of cleaning frankly since all I have is a couple plants to help me clean, and they don’t do much.

Do you think that you are going to achieve your 2019 resolution?

I would say yeah. Since its something you can measure and see it, you can do it.

What do you think you’re going to do to achieve your goal?

What I’m gonna do first [is] come up with a schedule until the 31st to get everything done.
