The Be The Change Club, led by presidents Hannah Tjalsma and Anna Pomeroy, recently organized a blanket drive at Andover High School, collecting blankets for a nonprofit in Lawrence that is going to be distributing them out to victims of the gas explosions in the Merrimack Valley.

Tjalsma said the “donation drive was just to give back to the victims who were affected…[for] families that needed blankets as the weather got colder.”

The club collected around seventeen new throw blankets and were hoping more were still to come. “We hope students in the future will get more involved in donation drives as they see them come along,” Tjalsma said.

The Be The Change club meets on Tuesday afternoons and focuses on having a more “inclusive and diverse community within this school where everyone feels welcome and able to participate in events and making everyone feel more welcome at school,” Tjalsma explained.
