The New England Scholastic Press Association has recognized the Warrior Weekly for Superior Achievement in online student journalism, and has singled out senior Marisa Dellatto for her writing.
Based at Boston University’s College of Communications, NESPA promotes student journalism in all forms throughout New England and hosts an annual conference and awards banquet at BU each May. The association held the event last Friday, May 2.
The Warrior Weekly, Andover High School’s student newspaper, was honored for Superior Achievement in the online journalism category. Andover High competed against other schools in the Class I group, composed of institutions with 1,000 or more students.
Additionally, Dellatto received a Special Achievement honor for her opinion column “Why the Glass is Half Full,” which was published in January. If you missed it the first time around, check out Dellatto’s humorous exploration of optimism now.
Thanks to contributions from students in this and last semesters’ Newspaper Production classes, and the dedication of the staff of the school’s newspaper club, the Warrior Weekly has increased the amount of content available on its site. The site has featured a new article each school day since early March.
The newspaper club meets after school each Tuesday in room 224. All are welcome.
