From November 21 to November 24, you have the opportunity to be brought back in time, courtesy of the Andover Drama Guild’s production of Thoroughly Modern Millie.

The musical, set in 1922, tells the story Millie Dillmount, a girl who moves to New York City in hopes of achieving her goal. Her goal is, of course, to find herself a wealthy man to marry.  Throughout her journey to achieve her goal, Millie interacts with a wide array of wacky and wild characters that are sure to provide many laughs.  After her many experiences, Millie realizes that finding true love is more meaningful and valuable than finding a partner with money.

The show will be chock-full of tap dancing and light-hearted comedy, two features that drew head director, long time Andover High School teacher Ms. Susan Choquette, to it.

“It’s been a while since we’ve done a big, tap-dancy musical,” says Choquette. She adds, “You just can’t be sad when you’re tap dancing.”

This year’s production features about forty-five actors and actresses live on stage, fifteen people doing behind-the-scenes work, and multiple assistant directors, all of whom are students. Choquette is confident that this year’s cast and crew will put on a show that will be no less than spectacular saying, “We have a very gifted cast…they have all worked very hard.”

If you are interested in attending one of the four shows at the Collins Center in Andover, you can buy tickets online or at the door.  To purchase tickets online, simply go to and click where you see “Buy Tickets Now!” Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, and $5 for Andover High School students with their student ID card.
