After several years of absence from Andover High School, the popular event Mr. AHS is back. This year’s event will be happening on Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Collins Center. Mr. AHS is based on the Miss America contest, in which candidates demonstrate a talent and answer questions posed by a panel of judges. The catch to this competition is that instead of beauty queens, the males of AHS will be taking to the stage.

Five junior boys will be competing against three senior boys for the title. The juniors are: Joe Benjamin, Max Galat, Jared Goldstein, James Lee and Carter Letsky. The seniors vying for the title are: Kendric McCarroll, Sean Sullivan and Byan Sutherland.
Talents include: Yo-Yo-ing , bagpipe-playing and singing. However, the highlight of the show promises to be a Lady GaGa dance and performance. The competitors promise to entertain all and reveal talents that were previously unknown.

Another highlight to the show will likely be the question-and-answer session with the candidates. It is sure to amuse.

A new element to the show this year is the addition of fan voting, in which the audience is able to cast votes via cell phone. “This allows for a more complete voting process,” explained coordinator Michelle Chachus.

Aside from the competition the Junior Board has prepared a spoof video about “the day in the life of an AHS student.” Admission to the event is 7 dollars in advance and 10 dollars at the door. Tickets will be sold at all four lunches in the week preceding the show. Any questions should be directed to Mrs.Chachus, who is the event planner.

The Junior Board asks for your support in making this event a success. It promises to be a great show.
