Andover’s varsity field hockey team has captured its second championship in as many years.
Sophomore Julia LeBlanc scored the only goal of the game and Andover blanked Longmeadow 1-0 in the Division I state championship game at Worcester State University.
It was nothing like the game that brought home the hardware last year. This year’s game was a defensive battle while last year’s was a shootout. According to several team members, the team came ready to play this year.
Seniors Kate and Anne Farnham, key players on the squad, said the team was definitely more prepared for the playoffs this year. The sisters also predicted a bright future for returning players: they are athletic and will be able to win tough games down the stretch.
